WHO ARE WE?
The Knox Rotaract club formed in April 2020, and became a chartered club in June 2020.
Knox Rotaract aims to create and provide volunteering opportunities to support local communities and personal, professional and leadership development opportunities for young adults, predominantly in the Knox area.

We currently have 14 passionate young people, who are involved in volunteering and fundraising efforts in the Knox area. Our club is based in the Knox district which includes: Bayswater, Boronia, Ferntree Gully, Knoxfield, Rowville, Scoresby, Wantirna, and other surrounding suburbs.

VOLUNTEERING & FUNDRAISING
Our club has participated in a number of volunteering and fundraising initiatives.
Fundraising
Paint 'n' Sip Fundraiser
Raised $1800 for our local Knox Headspace centre. Headspace provides free mental health services to youth in the Knox area.
Fundraising
Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea
Hosted a virtual morning tea as a part of Cancer Council's Australia's Biggest Morning Tea.

Raised funds through auctioning food boxes and other prizes.
Raised over $1700!

Knox Art Show
Helped organise the annual Knox Art Show - supporting local artists to showcase and sell their artworks.

Virtual Lockdown Series
We hosted 5 virtual activities over 5 weeks to keep people connected throughout Melbourne's Covid-19 Lockdown in 2020.

These activities included: Games Night, Vegan Cooking Trivia Night, Zumba & Paint 'n Sip.

Helped pick up rubbish in our local area.

Helped out at Bunnings BBQs to raise club funds.

Free, Online Small Group Tutoring for High School Students
Provided free, online small group tutoring for high school students for a range of different subjects to support them through Melbourne's Covid-19 Lockdown in 2020.

This initiatives was one of the finalists for Rotaract Australia's award for "Most Outstanding Project Held During Lockdown" in 2020.

Macrame 'n' Sip Fundraiser
Raised $2600 for the charity Possible Dreams International, helping provide child dignity packs to girls in Eswatini.
Volunteering
Foothills Community Care
Regularly baking dessert slices to support Foothills Community Care - distributing food to disadvantaged and homeless communities in the local area.

Mock Interviews for Wantirna College
Conducted mock interviews for Year 10 students to prepare them for professional interviews in the future.

Backpacks 4 Kids
Helped pack backpacks for vulnerable and displaced children.

WHAT IS ROTARACT?
Rotaract is a global organisation that provides opportunities for young adults to enhance their knowledge and skills through personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities, whilst promoting better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.
We empower students and young professionals to create positive change in their local communities and around the world. Rotaract provides unique opportunities that assist its members in becoming the business and professional leaders of tomorrow.
Rotaract (which stands for Rotary in Action) is a Rotary-partnered service club for young people aged 18 to 30. Sponsored by Rotary International, Rotaract Clubs across Australia are part of a worldwide organisation of 250,792 individuals in 10,904 clubs covering 184 countries.
Our club meets every 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from 7:15pm - 8:30pm.
Our meetings are a combination of virtual and in-person meetings.
